Sneak peek: Clinician well-being
Hear from Corey Feist, JD, MBA, CEO of the Dr Lorna Breen Heroes Foundation
Dear community,
This week’s post, Deep Dive: Clinician Well-Being, will be coming out not today, as I’d hoped, but on Friday, 9/22.
In the spirit of openness and anti-perfectionism, this week, we relocated (from Oaxaca, Mexico, to Santa Fe, New Mexico, US) and the transition has taken more from each of us than anticipated.
And this is a tough post to write — and an especially important one to me to get right. I want to do justice to this topic, and to the eight experts whose voices are represented within the article. This is the first time I’ve asked for your forgiveness on this score — and thank you for your grace.
In the meantime, I’d love to share with you a sneak peek at one of the incredible conversations I had for this post, with Corey Feist, JD, MBA, CEO of the Dr Lorna Breen Heroes Foundation — founded by Corey and Jennifer Feist, JD, to change the conditions that led to emergency physician and Jennifer’s sister, Dr Lorna Breen’s, death by suicide in 2020.
In just three years, the Foundation has helped usher in remarkable progress to promote physician well-being, including reforming the way licensing and credentialing applications ask about clinician mental health — saving countless lives.
They were just honored in Washington, DC, this week with the US Surgeon General’s Medallion for their work — the highest such honor for civilians. Enjoy this clip!
More to come soon,
Dr Devika Bhushan
